What to Expect in Sessions?
It’s understandable to feel uncomfortable discussing personal matters with someone new. Our team is trained to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to build a therapeutic working relationship with you.
An initial session will take 50-60 minutes to carefully assess areas that you would like help with and with questions to help us understand factors that may be affecting your circumstances. This will help us create a plan for treatment that is individually suited to your needs and preferences.
All people and problems are unique. At Free Minds, we will take the time to tailor suitable evidence based methods and adapt them to suit you. If you have had treatment in the past and haven’t found it as effective as you had hoped, we can work together to understand why to help you achieve your treatment goals.
How many sessions?
Most people feel the benefits of treatment after a few sessions. But as to the number of sessions, this will depend on the complexity of the issue, the changes you want to achieve, and your commitment to the work complete out of session. On average people attend 8-12 sessions, simpler issues may require less.
To ensure you get the most out of your time with us, we regular review your progress, checking in with your goals for treatment. Usually sessions are scheduled weekly and gradually spaced out over time. A 3-month follow up appointment is preferred but can be conducted via telephone to ensure that treatment gains are maintained.
