7Nick Lim-Howe

Clinical Psychologist/Practice Director
B. Psych (Hons), M. Clin Psych, MAPS

Nick is a dedicated, warm and friendly Clinical Psychologist who enjoys working collaboratively with people of all backgrounds. He derives great reward in helping people and their families attain their goals, as well as achieve a newfound quality and empowerment in their everyday life.

Nick is trained in a variety of evidence-based therapies that include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy and Positive Coaching.

Nick has worked with a variety of different client groups in a range of clinical settings (both public and private) that include Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service at Royal North Shore Hospital, working with both families and young adults as well as assisting running anxiety groups for children and their parents as part of his training. He has also worked in the field of brain injury at Royal Rehabilitation Centre where he helped design neuro-psychosocial rehabilitation programs. He has conducted research at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre and has experience teaching Psychology at the University of Sydney. His most recent position at the Happiness Institute promoted the principles of positive psychology in his therapeutic approach.

Nick completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney, where he achieved first class honours in a Bachelor of Psychology. He completed his Masters of Clinical Psychology at the University of New South Wales.

At present Nick splits his time between community mental health and private practice.

He is available in our Dee Why office on Mondays, Thursday; and our North Sydney office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays. 

Currently Nick is able to see new clients within 2 weeks.  

Laura McTackett – Clinical Psychologist
BA Psych, M Clin Psych, AHPRA, MAPS, MACPA

Laura is an experienced and highly empathic clinical psychologist who brings a warm, open and curious approach to her clients concerns. She is passionate about providing a non-judgmental, collaborative, evidence-based approach and strives to establish a strong therapeutic relationship built on compassion, respect, warmth and trust. She works alongside her clients to give them space to explore their concerns, while supporting them to achieve their personal therapeutic goals. Laura provides both short- and long-term therapy and believes that therapy needs to be flexible to best meet each client’s unique needs.

Laura has worked across community, hospital and private practice, where she has gained a rich and varied range of experiences providing assessment and treatment across the lifespan. She works with a diverse range of concerns including mood and anxiety disorders, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, attachment issues, complex trauma and PTSD.

Laura has extensive experience in early interventions for psychosis and those experiencing schizophrenia. She works within a specialist community setting that provides clinical assessment and psychological interventions for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis and those with enduring and complex mental health difficulties. Laura also has a passion working with the homeless and individuals within the Forensic Mental Health Network. She has worked with the Matthew Talbot Hostel and has obtained substantial experience in providing contemporary and recovery focused clinical interventions for individuals classified as forensic or civil patients during her training at the Forensic Hospital. Laura has published research on police use of force in offenders who appear mentally unwell and the challenges the police experience.

Laura employs an integrative therapeutic approach which she tailors to best address each client’s needs and presenting concerns. Common approaches include: Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy.

Laura is the Lead Clinical Psychologist for the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Program run through NSLHD, a Board-Approved Supervisor (APHRA), an Adjunct Fellow at Macquarie University and is a registered Expert Reviewer for the HCCC.

She holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Technology, Sydney. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Association (APS) and Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

Vicky Lim-Howe – Clinical Psychologist Registra

Vicky is a compassionate and person-centred psychologist who is passionate about working with both adults and young people to overcome their challenges and build their coping strategies. She has experience working across the lifespan in a variety of settings including schools, Headspace and private practice.

Vicky aims to create a therapeutic space that is warm, non-judgemental and strengths-based to make individuals feel safe and heard. Vicky understands the importance of working as a team when supporting both young people and adults. She works collaboratively with all stakeholders in clients’ lives to support building strength and resources in all aspects of their lives. Vicky has worked with individuals presenting with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, Autism Spectrum Disorder, interpersonal difficulties, adjustment difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem and self-harm. She has a special interest in supporting individuals presenting with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and trauma backgrounds.

Vicky works from a strength-based approach to encourage her clients to become more motivated and empowered in their lives as well as skilled in achieving their goals. Vicky works using a person-centred approach, this incorporates a range of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy to help individuals feel understood, gain insight into their concerns and reach their goals.
